Financial Information and SME Bankability

Clear, up-to-date and forward-looking financial information is increasingly important in the relationship between SMEs, banks and other lenders.

The EBA Guidelines on loan origination and monitoring require financial institutions to assess financial and non-financial information, including historical and forward-looking data. In practice, companies need to demonstrate not only past performance but also their ability to generate future cash flows, service debt and finance investment plans. In this context, the Bank of Italy Central Credit Register is also an important source of information in the relationship with lenders.

We assist SMEs in preparing:
  • interim financial statements and updated financial information;
  • economic, balance-sheet and cash-flow budgets;
  • business plans and financial plans;
  • cash-flow forecasts and debt-sustainability analysis;
  • periodic reporting for banks and other lenders;
  • supporting information for new credit facilities, renewals and investments;
  • ESG and sustainability information requested by financial institutions, including proportionate SME frameworks and VSME-based information where appropriate.
The quality of both financial and sustainability information increasingly contributes to a more complete assessment of a company’s risk profile and future prospects.

Our objective is to reduce information gaps, improve dialogue with lenders and provide a reliable representation of the company’s ability to finance and sustain its development plans.
